Dr. Ralph Abi Habib

Dr. Ralph Abi-Habib joined LAU as Assistant Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Natural Sciences in Spring 2009 and was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure in Fall 2016. He served as Associate Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences for six years (2012-2018). Dr. Abi-Habib also served on a number of councils both at the School level (SoAS) and at the University level, chairing the SoAS Curriculum Council, the SoAS admissions Council and the University Curriculum Council for a number of years. Dr. Abi-Habib has authored more than 24 papers published in high ranking international journals. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Wake Forest University, Bowman-Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC in 2005. He then completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas before moving on to work at Protox Therapeutics, a Biotechnology company based in Vancouver, BC that develops targeted Cancer Therapeutics between 2007 and 2009. In his function, Dr. Abi-Habib will liaise with faculty to assist them with research grant submission and execution. He will also interact with school representatives for USAID’s Office of American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (USAID/ASHA) preparation, submission and follow-up.
