Dr. Mirvat El-Sibai is the Assistant Dean of Research at the Lebanese American University (LAU). Mirvat El-Sibai is a Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology at the Department of Biological Sciences in the School of Arts and Science. She has a long record of service on numerous institutional committees. She served as Chair of the LAU Faculty Senate between 2018 and 2021. She joined LAU in 2009 as Assistant Professor. Dr. El-Sibai received Her Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology in 2007 from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and was a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Analytical imaging and microscopy and in Human Genomics till 2009. Her main research interests are in Cancer therapeutics and signal transduction regulating cancer cell metastasis. In 2017, Dr. El-Sibai was the first LAU faculty member to receive the prestigious Abdel-Hameed Shuman award for best Biomedical researcher in the Arabic world. She has authored more than 80 papers that are highly cited and mentored dozens of graduate students. Dr. El-Sibai also served on numerous MS and PhD committees and journal editorial boards and served as ambassador for the American Association of Cell Biology and the European Association for Cancer Research.
