Dr. Andre Megarbane

Andre Megarbane is a professor of medical genetics. After his graduation from the school of Medicine at Saint Jospeh University in Lebanon, he obtained his specialization in medical genetics and then a PhD in Sciences from Paris. Dr Megarbane is very active in research with interests in the domains of intellectual disability, dysmorphology, osseous malformations, neuromuscular disorders and others. He dedicated himself to the localization and identification of genes involved in orphan diseases, mainly autosomal recessive, which represent a real problem in public health as well as a considerable financial burden for those affected. He is a member of the Lebanese National Bioethics Committee, and member of the Lebanese Academy of Sciences. He authored and co-authored more than 350 publications, and is editorial board member of many scientific and medical journals, and recipient of seven scientific awards.
