Dr. Abedelkader Helwan

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Dr. Abedelkader Helwan joined the Lebanese American University in September 2020, where he was appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. He is currently coordinating directly with the Dean of School of Engineering, while conducting some researches in his field of expertise, in addition to having some teaching duties. Moreover, having a mixed knowledge of Biomedical engineering and artificial intelligence, he is cooperating with some research clusters at LAU in order to employ artificial intelligence in Biomedicine and other related fields.

Dr. Helwan received his Bachelor of Engineering from City University (Formerly known as Al- Manar University of Tripoli), in biomedical Engineering, in 2013. His MSc and PhD were received from the Near East University, Cyprus in 2015 and 2018, respectively. He has a strong background in biomedical engineering, medical image processing, and computational intelligence. Dr. Helwan spent the last 4 years developing his skills as a researcher, and a part-time instructor and assistant at Near East University (2015-2018), where he conducted researches that proposed deep learning solutions to solving medical problems, which were published in scientific journals and conferences.

His research interests include but not limited to Machine and deep learning in medicine, Medical computational intelligence, Biomedical image processing, and Biomedical engineering and systems.
