Dr. Ayoob Sharifi
Research Faculty
Ayyoob Sharifi is a Professor at the IDEC Institute, Hiroshima University and a non-resident faculty at LAU. Before joining Hiroshima University, he served as the Executive Director of the Global Carbon Project, leading its urban flagship activity focused on conducting cutting-edge research to support climate change mitigation and adaptation in cities. He earned his doctorate in Environmental Engineering from Nagoya University in 2013 and has since published over 200 articles in prestigious journals. Ayyoob received the Phoenix Outstanding Researcher award from Hiroshima University for his excellence in research and contributions to global change research programs such as Future Earth and serving as a lead author for the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He is the editor of Journal of Environmental Management and the Associate Editor of Urban Climate. His primary research interests lie at the interface of urbanism and climate change mitigation and adaptation, with an aim to provide further insights into developing sustainable, peaceful, just, and resilient communities through urban planning.3.
