Dr. Syed Shah Bokhari

Research Faculty

Dr. Syed Awais Ali Shah Bokhari is an accomplished chemical engineer with over 13 years of experience in academia and research. Currently he is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore, Pakistan and Research fellow in INTI International University Malaysia. He is honorary senior researcher and member in Sustainable Process Integration Laboratory, Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. Dr. Bokhari completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of Technology Petronas, Malaysia in 2018.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bokhari has received notable awards and achievements, including the AOCS (American Oil Chemist’s Society) Manuchehr (Manny) Eijadi Award and the Honored Student Award at the 2017 AOCS Annual Meeting and Industry Showcases. He has also won 5 Gold medals and 1 silver medal in international exhibitions and received a special award of RM 10,000.00 from the University of Southampton, UK, for novel intensification technology development.

In addition to his research accomplishments, Dr. Bokhari has held significant editorial roles and appointments. He currently serves as Editor of the Chemical Engineering Transactions Journal. Previously, he held positions as Associate Editor of the Journal of Cleaner Production (2017-2023) and Associate Editor of Cleaner Engineering and Technology (2020-2023). He has also acted as a Guest Editor for esteemed journals such as Energies, Chemosphere, Frontiers in Energy, and Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews.

Dr. Bokhari is an active member of professional organizations, including AOCS (American Oil Chemist’s Society) and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). He has contributed extensively to research projects for both public and private institutions and has collaborated with industrial partners.

His impressive publication record includes 170 research papers in ISI and SCOPUS-indexed journals, 50 conference proceedings, and 8 book chapters (>6,400 Citations; h-index 49). Through his multidisciplinary expertise and dedication to advancing knowledge in chemical engineering, Dr. Bokhari continues to make significant contributions to the field, inspiring future generations of researchers and engineers.
