The Ethical Compliance Office at LAU oversees research integrity through two primary committees:
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) ensures that all research involving human subjects meets national and international ethical standards, including the principles of the Belmont Report. This applies to studies conducted at LAU and its affiliated medical centers, as well as external research by LAU affiliates.
The Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC) reviews and approves all research involving animal models at the LAU Animal Facility, ensuring alignment with Lebanese regulations and U.S. NIH standards for animal welfare.
Together, these bodies safeguard ethical conduct in research involving both human and animal subjects.
